Cardiac arrhythmias are a common cause of medical urgency. Its rapid recognition is essential, simultaneously to a prompt evaluation of the patients clinical condition, assuring the initiation of the appropriate treatment and/or referral to the nearest hospital for a definitive management. This review describes the most frequent arrhythmias that require medical care, including tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmias, focusing on the immediate diagnosis criteria and treatment, highlighting some key measures such as electrical cardioversion, temporary transcutaneous pacing, and the description of the main anti-arrhythmic drugs currently used.Downloads
