Abstract

Colorectal cancer is the second more frequent cancer both in men and women. Treated patients have a high recurrence rate, making follow up an essential step for early recurrence recognition. Follow up strategies vary both between countries and between institutions within countries. As a whole, these strategies seek to improve 1) global survival; 2) quality of life; and 3) cost-benefit. The authors present a follow up algorithm for colorectal cancer patients, based on recommendations of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
