Motivational intervention in a smoking cessation consultation based on behavioral change

The author presents a proposal for organizing the consultation of smoking cessation result of the experience of the past four years, as responsible for the program of smoking UCS - Integrated Health Care (Health Services Group TAP), which combines motivational interventions to pharmacological and behavioral support, a structured query in three meetings Clinical and five direct telephone contact. In this context, where the intervention of health professionals is particularly 'non-directive', underlines the importance of the motivation of the individual dependent on adherence to treatment and characterized the key aspects of each of the different stages of the change process, with enhancement to support and behavioral issues that cause 'talk of change' that allow verbal expression and encourage the person to make the decision to quit smoking.Downloads
