Abstract

Objectives: The overall objective of this research is to determine the degree of adherence to vaccination for seasonal influenza 2006/2007 and their motivations in the Year Internal Policy (IAC). The objectives determine the specific rate vaccinated, the rate of those who intend to get vaccinated, ascertain the importance that the IAC attributed to vaccination, identify the reasons for compliance / noncompliance and identify strategies to encourage vaccination. Type of study: A descriptive cross. Location: The survey was hosted at the following Internet site: http://vacinagripe.no-ip.org Population: Internal Year Common to exercise in Portugal in 2006. Methods: Obtained as a convenience sample consisting of 136 IAC. Were considered to be the criteria for inclusion Degree in Medicine to attend the Common Year in Portugal, and the exclusion does not respond to the questionnaire and / or incorrectly completed questionnaires. We studied the following variables: socio-demographic characteristics (gender and workplace), characterization of accession to the seasonal flu vaccination, reasons for adherence and non-adherence to vaccination, the degree of importance attributed to vaccination in the medical profession, characterization strategies to encourage seasonal flu vaccination and the knowledge / ignorance of physicians belonging to a risk group. The data were processed using Epi Info version 3.3.2. Results: The percentage of IAC vaccinated was 33.1% (n = 45). The main reasons given for vaccination were 'protect me from disease', 'protect patients' and 'have easy access to the flu vaccine, "and for not being vaccinated' disinterest ',' had no time 'and' consider the flu vaccine ineffective. " Conclusion: The importance attached by the IAC to vaccination, the fact that they consider a risk group, the existence of a considerable rate of those who intend to get vaccinated, as well as the motivations found, could be a good starting point for future campaigns.
