With the aging population, the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of cognitive impairment is increasing. It is estimated that there are 5 million people with dementia in Europe. This situation is therefore increasingly common in the daily practice of the general practitioner. It seemed so important, and I very happy to accept the invitation of honorable Editor of Revista Clinica Portuguese General, my colleague and friend of course Master Anthony Faria Vaz, to prepare this special issue, with the invaluable collaboration of various experts, including Dementia group at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon and Institute of Molecular Medicine.Downloads
