Invited to write about Henrique Botelho's legacy, for the Portuguese Journal of General and Family Medicine, I accepted the challenge, although aware that this is just a testimony, my view, about the doctor, the friend, and the citizen. His family members, starting with Maria João, also our colleague, his two daughters, Mariana and Teresinha, other family members, friends, and everyone who worked and lived with him, in the area of health, culture, and citizenship, certainly have other important testimonials about his life and his worthy personal, professional, cultural, political and social trajectory.
Henrique Botelho was born in Vila do Conde, lived in Pedras Rubras, and later in Braga, but his heart is in Porto.
