Abstract

The transmission of bad news is met with some difficulty by most health professionals by the complexity of the emotional aspects associated with it. Moreover, the preparation is also deficient in this area, which highlights many of the concerns of doctors. It is important to know some aspects of a possible protocol to transmit bad news and, once understood, it is desirable to move towards the training of communication skills inherent. These skills are an integral part of any clinical skills. This article discusses briefly the problem of transmission of bad news to cancer patients, but the points raised apply to a multitude of situations from the scope of practice of the family doctor.
