Itching is a symptom which, though seemingly less important, can greatly affect the quality of life for some terminally ill. The management of this symptom is not limited only to the use of antihistamines, so throughout this article we will review the main etiopathogenic mechanisms of itching and general and specific measures for their treatment. It is important to emphasize that the principles contained herein are applicable to situations outside the scope of itching of palliative care.Downloads
