Abstract

Like medicine in general, general and family medicine is at an inflection point. Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and demographic changes require a redefinition of the family doctor's role. Portugal faces urgent challenges: a growing shortage of professionals in the National Health Service, an ageing population, and the need to ensure equity in access to health care. How can we ensure that general and family medicine adapt to this reality without compromising its fundamental principles?
