The utility of the EEG

Align answers to the questions most often asked about the use of the electroencephalogram in the context of everyday clinical practice. We describe some situations that are known potential developments of this technology, citing its importance in the field of research. They point up the main situations in which the EEG is useful as a complementary test in clinical diagnostics, in particular in the case of epilepsy. Refers to a group of conditions where there is very limited benefits to expect from electroencephalography. The main objective of this review is to clarify some concepts still prevalent among physicians less informed and help to combat certain malpractices. The argument based on the literature and professional experience explicit demand by removing the appropriate consequences, the actual levels of sensitivity and specificity of EEG.Downloads
